Special attention was paid to using torpedoes to make opening in ice for submarine surfacing and using missile weapons in the Arctic

Senior officers of the Russian Northern Fleet have mastered new ways of using underwater weapons in conditions of the Arctic, head of the fleet’s press service Vadim Serga told TASS.

The training took place at the main base of the Northern Fleet’s Submarine Forces in Gadzhiyevo. It focused on training use of torpedoes, mine and antimine weapons, antisubmarine weapons and electronic warfare.

On the final day of drills, a competition was held between commanders on the best torpedo attack by a group of ships, along with on combat calculations. The winners received the Northern Fleet Commander’s prize.
